Austin airport adds program to aid people with 'hidden' disabilities

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) announced Tuesday that it launched a new accessibility service aimed at assisting passengers with “hidden,” or non-visible, disabilities. AUS joins 201 airports across 29 countries that have implemented the Hidden (or non-visible) Disabilities (HD) Sunflower Program, which allows folks with conditions that may not be immediately apparent – such as autism or being hard of hearing – to subtly disclose that they are living with a disability and may require more patience. Police: Louisville shooter legally bought AR-15 rifle a week ago

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  — The bank employee who opened fire at his Louisville workplace targeted specific people with the rifle he bought legally a week earlier, police said Tuesday.Louisville Metro Police Department Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said at a news conference that bank employee Connor Sturgeon, 25, bought the AR-15 rifle on April 4 at a local dealership.Armed with the rifle, Sturgeon killed five people — including a close friend of Kentucky’s governor — while livestreaming the attack Monday on Instagram, authorities said. Esopus man pleads guilty to 3-counts of grand larceny

KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday, an Esopus man with a history of felony convictions pleaded guilty to a three-count indictment just as the jury trial was about to begin. Seth Young, 49, pled guilty without any promises to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. Ex-St. Louis mailman gets probation for stealing checks

ST. LOUIS - A federal judge has sentenced a former St. Louis mailman to five years of probation for stealing checks from the mail. Marquan Long, 28, has also been ordered to pay around $34,000 in restitution and 40 hours of community service. Long, a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service, pleaded guilty in January to theft charges in the case. Last week, Tennessee state Representatives Justin Pearson and Justin Jones were expelled by the Republican-dominated legislature for “knowingly and intentionally bringing disorder and dishonor” to the House. A third representative, Gloria Johnson, narrowly escaped expulsion by a single vote.They were accused of breaching House decorum by joining a protest in the House gallery demanding the legislature pass gun safety legislation while still on the House floor.
