Two House Democrats called on Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to resign on Wednesday, a stunning move underscoring the rising concern over her prolonged absence from the Senate.Rep. About $1.5 billion in tax returns remain unclaimed from the 2019 tax year, according to IRS

The Internal Revenue Service announced on Wednesday that nearly 1.5 million people nationwide have left about $1.5 billion in tax refunds unclaimed. In California, the agency estimated that 144,700 people have a total of $141,780,000 in unclaimed refunds.Overall, the IRS estimates that the mid-point refund amount for the 2019 tax year is $893, meaning some refunds can be more or less than the estimated average amount.  Taxpayers have until July 17 to submit their tax returns for the 2019 tax year and claim their refunds. IRS announces 2023 tax season start date and deadline “The 2019 tax returns came due during the pandemic, and many people may have overlooked or forgotten about these refunds,” IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel said in a statement.“We want taxpayers to claim these refunds, but time is running out. Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Ashe RoadBAKERSFIELD, CA (April 12, 2023) – Saturday evening, one rider was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash on Panama Lane.The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m., near Ashe Road.According to reports, a pickup-truck and a motorcyclist were heading west on Panama Lane when the truck driver struck the rider.Upon impact, the pickup-truck lost control and struck a building and a fire hydrant. First responders arrived and located the severely injured rider down on the road.Paramedics then transported the rider to a nearby hospital in critical condition. OAKLAND — Two people were injured after a shooting Wednesday in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.Shortly before 4 p.m., police responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 2900 block of Brookdale Avenue, between Fruitvale and Coolidge avenues.When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, and provided care until first responders could take them to a hospital.Both victims’ conditions were not immediately available. Police did not share any suspect or vehicle description.For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $10,000 in the shooting.
